We can all agree that the network marketing industry has the ability to create a lucrative income. However, most people that enter the industry come in unprepared. Have you ever been so excited about a new electronic device that you chose to ignore reading the instructions? As soon as you tried operating the device, you found yourself frustrated because you couldn’t figure out how to use it. The same goes for network marketing. You may be excited right now and may be tempted to ignore the instructions to succeed in this industry. But before you decide to invest money into network marketing, be mindful of these common mistakes and your path to success will arrive much sooner.
The first mistake network marketers make is have the mindset that they can make millions overnight. They fail to realize the fact that network marketing is a business and requires the time and effort like any other business to succeed. Once they start failing in one business, they jump to another business and try to make a fortune overnight. Thus begins a detrimental cycle for their wallets. The first step to overcome this mistake is to create short and long term goals. Create specific goals that include numbers and slowly but consistently build up to them. Success, after all, is built on a series of consistent actions.
The second mistake marketers make is not investing in knowledge. Imagine if you were on trial and might be locked away for life. Would you want your lawyer to be someone who just decided to be a lawyer the day of your trial? Absolutely not! You would want someone who has studied law for several years and has the experience to take on a trial of your case’s magnitude. You can’t just decide to be a marketer one day and expect to succeed immediately. You need to invest in books, CDs and training seminars to understand the science behind the industry. If you do decide to put your money into your marketing knowledge, you are already ahead of over ninety percent of the marketers in network marketing.
The third mistake most marketers make is actually marketing. Most marketers make the mistake of simply networking with people. This is fine except the industry is called network marketing for a reason. Most people only take into account the first half and simply add people on social networks and forget about the whole marketing concept. Just because you have the most friends doesn’t mean you’re making the most money. Be mindful of that. Simply use the marketing techniques you learn from the books and CDs you invested in and you will be able to start building a lucrative business.
I could write an extremely drawn out list of mistakes marketers make in their network marketing business, but these are by far the most devastating ones that the majority of the industry is making. Realize the long term and short term goals needed to build a successful business, invest in your network marketing knowledge and start applying them to the people you connect with and you will start seeing some significant changes for the better.

That’s really true Kevin. So what do you think is the element that separates someone successful in the business and someone that isn’t, other then increase value in themselves? Personally I believe it is the reason why they do Network Marketing in the first place.
Hey Kevin,
You know, logic all goes out the window when it comes to building success in network marketing. If you think about it, in a normal job, it usually takes years of experience to become recognised as a specialist in an area.
Heck, you’re not even recognised if you don’t have 20 years of experience in something! Yet, they want you to think you can become successful next week, straight after you joined your first network marketing company.
You are absolutely right – “Success is built on a series of consistent actions”. Keep up the good work!

Great point Kin! Having a deep and meaningful reason to do something definitely separates those doing this for a hobby and those looking to make something of themselves.
Wayne, it’s funny how people take network marketing for granted. After all, it’s not an escape from hardship, it’s an escape from the rat race.
