More people fear public speaking than anything else in the world.  More people would rather die than speak in front of a live audience; it is rather extreme but is also a harsh reality.  The reason people are afraid of public speaking is because judgment is being passed on them.  Social acceptance is a common theme in human culture so it comes as no surprise when public speaking is a top statistic.  In the network marketing realm, video marketing is quite similar to public speaking.  The only difference is you get several tries to make your video perfect.  Even then, many marketers fear the camera and how people will judge them as their videos are viewed.  Here are some tips to overcome your fear when marketing with video.

Talk to a mirror.  You’ve probably heard this one before when preparing for a real speech.  Here’s the reality of this tactic.  No one is a harsher critic than yourself and seeing all of your bad habits when speaking can quickly be fixed.  As you prepare to market using a video, talk to yourself in the mirror several times and you’ll find yourself being much more comfortable when you actually hit the record button.

Talk in the car.  Turn off the radio when you’re driving somewhere.  Utilizing your driving time to practice what you’ll say in a video saves you time when you get back to actually record the video.  Marketing with video takes a lot of attempts off the camera to publish an acceptable production.  Besides, how is music going to help you pay the mortgage?  Sacrifice some of your music in the car to sharpen your speaking skills and build confidence.

Listen to CDs.  Listening to successful business people and network marketers really makes a difference in how you speak.  Have you ever noticed how your vocabulary changes or how your mannerisms change as you hang around certain people over time?  It’s amazing how the body picks up certain things and adds it to your subconscious.  You’ll be surprised what words come out of your mouth after listening to these people several times.

Write an article.  Writing things down really improves how your mind connects different ideas.  A lot of songwriters and poets write their ideas down and begin to connect words and metaphors almost seamlessly as they write more and more.  The reasoning behind this is your mind is able to visualize the words in the brain first, transmit it to your hands and see the words actually appear on paper.  This allows your brain to associate different things three times over.  After you finish writing your article, read it out loud.  This will allow your hearing to kick in and your brain will start collecting what you just read into the subconscious as well.

It really is amazing what you can do to build confidence and become successful at marketing with video.  Using these tips, there is no reason why you should still have a fear to record yourself on camera.  After all, you are branding yourself and there is no better way to show people who you are then through a recorded video.
